I was taught that a “good” photo comprised of the following parts: eye contact, a smile, and standing perfectly still. I have a smile exclusively reserved for photos that my parents will inevitably share on Facebook. As I learned more about photography, I grew to appreciate natural moments. There’s nothing like capturing a subtle moment, a genuine expression, a slice of time. When I look at these photos, I feel a sense of connection to the moment and the people in the photos. Now, the parts of a “good” photo exist behind the camera: eye contact through the lens, an unintentional smile, and standing perfectly still in hopes of capturing a slice of time.
